On Friday in Sharjah's opening Twenty20 encounter of the three-match series, Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in a historic victory.

Afghanistan completed the 93-run chase in 17.5 overs with the loss of only four wickets.

In a match of international cricket, Afghanistan defeated Pakistan for the first time.

Ihsanullah, a rookie, took two wickets in his first over to put the batting side in danger. Afghanistan maintained their composure, though, and pursued the target.

Mohammad Nabi, a veteran all-rounder, struck an undefeated run-a-ball 38 with the help of three fours and a six to end the game.

Najibullah Zadran remained not out on 17 runs in 23 balls.

To help their team over the finish line, Zadran and Nabi scored 53 unbroken runs in 49 balls for the fifth wicket.

"We are thrilled to have defeated Pakistan at last. We merely observed the ball and played naturally, although pitch was not simple. The bowling and Nabi's experience were both incredible. Najib performed admirably "After the game, opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz stated.

"We'll gain momentum and confidence from the victory. Beating Pakistan shows that we are progressing, and hopefully this trend continues "Added he.

Shadab Khan, Pakistan's captain, won the toss and elected to bat first, setting Afghanistan a measly aim of 93 runs.

Afghanistan bowled quite well, limiting Pakistan to 92-9 in 20 overs.

In T20Is, this was Pakistan's lowest score after batting for the full 20 overs. It was 96-9 in 2014 against Australia.

Saim Ayub and Tayyab Tahir each scored 17 and 16 runs, while Imad Wasim top-scored with 18 runs in 32 balls.

Each of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammad Nabi, and Fazalhaq Farooqi took two wickets.

It should be mentioned that during the game, Pakistani debuts were made by right-arm quicks Zaman Khan and Ihsanullah, middle-order batter Tayyab Tahir, and opener Saim Ayub.

Meanwhile, all-rounders Faheem Ashraf and Imad Wasim, top-order batsman Abdullah Shafique, and Azam Khan made their comebacks for Pakistan.

Babar Azam, who was rested for the series, is not heading the team; Shadab is.

Pakistan's T20 International matches against Afghanistan are their first since finishing second in the T20 World Cup in Australia the previous year.

On Sunday, March 26, the same location will host the second T20I of the series.
